The XIV Annual Meeting of the Iberoamerican Cochrane Network was held in Montevideo last 20th, 21st and 22nd of May, together with the I Meeting of the Evidence-Based Health and Epidemiology Network of Uruguay.
This event was organised by the Centro Colaborador Uruguayo, located in the Fondo Nacional de Recursos (FNR) and coordinated by Oscar Gianneo, who was helped by the existing associated groups of the country: the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de la República; the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), División Evaluación Sanitaria; and the Unidad de Investigación Clínica y Epidemiológica Montevideo (UNICEM), and the Iberoamerican Cochrane Centre.
Besides presenting interesting experiences related to evidence-based healthcare in the region, the co-ordinators of the Iberoamerican Cochrane Network Co‑ordinating Centres discussed the activities developed across the different countries for the last months and shared several on‑going projects. It should be noted the participation as a special guest of Cochrane’s CEO Mark Wilson, who updated the attendants about the implementation of the Strategy 2020 and encouraged them to actively participate in Cochrane.
The meeting was a success, with 130 registered participants. The 2016 meeting of the Iberoamerican Network will be held next year in Ecuador.
